Vale Julian Jefferis

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Julian Jefferis. The devoted husband of Allie, father of new-born son Percival, and loving son of Peter and Deborah Jefferis and brother of Sam and Anna.

Julian commenced his life at GPS Rugby Club as a Jeeps Junior, where his significant height led him straight to the second row, where he remained for his career. Jules went on to play Colts and Grades at Jeeps and was fortunate enough to compete in a finals series for Reserve Grade and won lower grade premierships. Importantly he was able to share the field with his younger brother Sam and enjoyed two tours with the club to South America.  He was a natural leader and organiser of the playing group, on and off the field. He was extremely popular and hard working member of the club, a big believer in fair play and a loyal supporter of Jeeps, the Reds and the Wallabies.

In recent years Jules took on his battle with Pancreatic Cancer head on and threw himself into an ambassador role with Pancare and has had a huge impact in raising awareness and funds for his cause.  The club has supported Jules in this ambition through our charity rounds.  The Jefferis family have long been valued members of Jeeps from Junior days and very active in club life.  Peter Jefferis still assists with the home game set-up crew on Saturday mornings.

It is a huge loss to the Jefferis family and to Jeeps.  Allie, Percy, Peter, Debbie, Sam and Anna are hosting a gathering at the GPS Rugby Club at 3:30pm on Friday afternoon for all of Julian’s family and friends in remembrance of a life well lived. Attendees are encouraged to wear anything purple.
