Throughout this time the club has consistently remained competitive, contesting 25 Grand Finals whilst winning 10, along with 7 minor premierships. Famously the club clinched the 1996 Premiership by defeating Souths, who at the time featured 11 Wallabies. Between 2017 and 2021, backed by a dominant set-piece GPS reached three Grand Finals. The club’s 2nd Grade side has historically been one of the club’s most consistent performers, seldomly missing out on finals and dependently contesting Grand Finals – in which they have won 7. Training alongside 1st Grade each Tuesday and Thursday evening, there is an expectation that players hold themselves to the highest possible standard and are ready to play 1st Grade whenever they are called upon.

In one of Queensland Premier Rugby’s most competitive divisions, GPS’s 3rd Grade side can often feature a mix of returning 1st Grade players and rising talents gaining experience in senior rugby. The team has a strong history of finals appearances and has claimed 4 Premierships. Their most recent victory came in 2023, under the leadership of Club Life Member Stephen Meehan. That season, the team won the minor premiership, went unbeaten for 11 games leading into the finals, and secured the championship with the final kick of the Grand Final. The team trains in conjunction with 4th and 5th Grades.

6th Grade complete on Friday evenings as part of the Queensland Surburban Rugby Union’s Normanby Cup competition. Being a suburban rugby competition, opposition range from Premier Rugby Teams to social teams.
Although 6th Grade could be considered a more social level, there is still a great deal of speed, skill and natural ability on display each match.
