Lightning Cup Series

The Lightning Cup series is a BJRU governed event catering for players at an U18 level.

  • 6-week competition across February and early March.

  • The squad will commence training on the 6th January 2025.

  • Send an EOI to juniors@gpsrugby.com.au.

  • Registrations for 2025 will open 18th December through Rugby Xplorer

Competing in Queensland Premier Rugby competition, the Colts season runs across 16 weeks and is a key pathway to Premier Grade rugby. GPS competes in the QPR Colts 1, Colts 2, Colts 3 and Colts 4 competitions, catering for all abilities and commitments. The club has experienced great success through Colts and have won 16 Colts premierships across the 4 Colts grades. In the last decade, more than 50 players have graduated through the Colts program and into the Premier Grade Side.

Old Boys Scholarship

The GPS Old Boys Rugby Scholarship was introduced in 2021 and is designed to support outstanding new and continuing 18 to 20-year-old male and female players who have demonstrated exceptional ability in rugby to combine a trade/tertiary education with high-performance sport. This scholarship is awarded based on the yearly available funding from donors. Amounts are awarded in consideration of the athlete’s highest level of sports achievement. This Scholarship has a one-year term and is open to new and continuing players.
