GPS Rugby Club Juniors
With over 50 teams and close to 1000 players ranging from U6-U16, the GPS Rugby Club boasts one of Australia’s largest junior rugby clubs. We cater for and foster the growth of all abilities of rugby, and feature U6-U11 Mixed Rugby, Girl’s 7s and U12-U16 Graded competition.
The Club has a strong history of success within its junior ranks, and has produced numerous Wallabies, with Nick Frisby being the most recent. Within our last 1st Grade Premiership winning team (2018) 8 players in the matchday 23 had played for the Club since U6.
In 2023, our Club historian was able to uncover that there are now a number of families who have had 3 generations play for GPS, a trend we hope to see continue for many years to come.

PONY CLUB
Our introduction to Rugby Program is designed to introduce children under the age of 5 to Rugby. Pony Club focusses on gross motor skills with fun-based games, all while encompassing the key elements of Rugby Union.
U3: Players have turned 3 prior to involvement U4: Players born in 2020

U5: Fridays 5:30-6:15pm

U6 - U7
The U6 & U7 age groups are introduced to basic rugby skills through a non-contact 7-a-side competition scheduled by the BJRU. The competition is mixed and is a great opportunity for a first taste of Rugby.
U6: Players born in 2018
U7: Players born in 2017
Training: Friday nights 5:00 PM - 6:15 PM
Games: Saturday Mornings from 8:00 AM

U8 - U9
The U8 & U9 age groups then progress to a 7-a-side and 10-a-side tackle competition respectively. Sides play within BJRU organised fixtures, with rules adhering to the ARU and World Rugby Pathway competition laws.

Training: Friday nights at 6:15-7:30 pm
Games: Saturday mornings from 9:20 AM

U10 - U12
The first state of Rugby on a full-sized field. U10-U12 Pathway laws have been developed to increase activity levels for maximum participation and enjoyment. The Pathway provides an integrated and consistent approach to the development of U6 to U12 players, coaches and referees nationally. In the U10 and U11 age groups grading does not occur. However, in U12 the club undertakes grading across the whole cohort to alleviate potential safety concerns.

U13 - U16
Full U19 laws, with graded competition scheduled by the BJRU. Games are further intended to develop individual skills, fitness and teamwork of all players in accordance with their age and understanding of the game.

Girls 7’s Rugby
