GPS Rugby Academy Information Evening Monday 6th March

GPS Rugby Academy

On Monday the 6th of March at 6.00pm at the GPS clubhouse we are having an information night for U16, U17s and U18’s rugby players that would like to know more about the FB Wealth Management GPS Rugby Academy.  We invite any player or prospective rugby players who would like to be in this program to come along.  All school and club based player are welcome.

The program has been developed by Club Director of Rugby, Dan Nethery, and academy sponsor, Liam Ferguson.  The motto adopted for the academy is “Developing the player, the person, the club, the game”.  The program aims to develop solid club men who enjoy their rugby, who will play to the highest of their ability, whether that is reserve grade, Super Rugby or the Wallabies.

The academy is focused on players in the 16‐19 age group, which is important in the transition from school and junior rugby, to open men’s rugby.  The academy will provide players with quality coaching in general rugby skills, position specific skills and strength and conditioning.  Players from across South East Queensland will join players from the ranks of the GPS Rugby Juniors.

This night will be used to go through the following

  • The Academy Program
  • Coaches involved in the program
  • How the program works around those with heavy school based rugby, academic and extra-curricular commitments.
  • How the program works with GPS Rugby U/16 & U/17s
  • Transition into colts and grade rugby
  • Overall benefit to the player

We will also have current Premier Grade Head Coach and former GPS Rugby and QLD Reds prop, Anthony Mathison, and current Premier Colts Coach and former GPS Rugby, Western Force and NSW Waratahs lock Patrick O’Connor to talk to the players on the night.

We invite any club or school rugby player in these age groups who is looking to improve their rugby to attend.

If you know of players who may be interested, please extend and invitation to them to RSVP and attend.

To RSVP for the night please contact Daniel Nethery in the office on 07 3366 1266 or alternatively email All RSVP’s by Friday the 3rd of March.  (Note: RSVP Necessary)
