Ashgrove Sports Grounds Redevelopment |

GPS Old Boys
Rugby Union Club in conjunction with its Yoku Rd partners, Ashgrove GPS Junior
Rugby Union Club and Valley District Cricket Club, have this year upgraded the
playing surface and training facilities at the Ashgrove Sports Ground, Yoku Rd.
Through the
support of the Commonwealth Government Water Grants, Department of Sport and
Recreation, Department of Natural Resources & Water, and the Brisbane City
Council the partnership has invested approximately over $1.3 million dollars
into our future.
Ashgrove
Sports Ground is one of the major community sporting venues in Brisbane. Nearly
2000 junior and senior players use it each year to play two of Australia’s most
popular team sports – Rugby Union and Cricket.
This
redevelopment will help the three clubs continue and even expand their vital
work with young people in the western suburbs. More local people can enjoy
playing team sport and be exposed to the clubs’ water conservation policies and
practices. Through the improvements to the playing surface, drainage and storm
water capture a significant amount of water will be available for re-use to
irrigate the fields.
As this project enters its final stages, GPS Old
Boys Rugby Union Club would like to thank all those involved and we look
forward to staging home games at one of the best playing fields in the Brisbane
competition.
